Community Building Programs

Community Building – CWRI organizes its residents with crime watches, clean-ups, tree plantings, community events, youth programs and main street improvements.
Infrastructure Improvements – CWRI improves the physical infrastructure such as the acquisition and installation of the Peace and Plenty Playground; improvements to the Grace Church and Locust Grove Cemeteries, streetscape improvements on Broad Street and community gardens.
Community Safety – CWRI partners with the State Department of Corrections, the Providence Police and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) on its Community Safety Initiative to create empowered citizen based crime reduction programs in the South Side of Providence. MetLife Foundation gave the team its national award in 2008 for crime reduction on Parkis Avenue.
Youth Initiative – CWRI’s youth program includes recreation, education and community-building. A summer program works with local youth to create a business plan to grow produce at community gardens and sell to local restaurants.
